SD crop conditions mostly continue to fall

Row crop conditions fell slightly last week in South Dakota.

Seventy-five percent of corn was rated fair or better with 25 percent rated poor to very poor. Corn silking is six percent behind last year at 68 percent.

Soybean condition is 74 percent fair or better with 26 percent poor to very poor. Pod setting is also behind last year and the average at eight percent.

Winter wheat harvest is eight percent ahead of last year at 71 percent complete.

Sixty-nine percent of the spring wheat in the state is in poor to very poor shape.

Oat harvest is ahead of last year at 43 percent complete and sorghum condition is mostly fair to good with 33 percent headed.

Pasture and range conditions are better than the week before but are still rated 72% very poor to poor.
