Seed dealer says expect new drought-tolerant corn and dicamba-resistant soybean options in ’22

A seed company representative says as always, farmers should expect some new corn and soybean varieties to be available before the 2022 growing season.  Roger Johnson is with Renk Seed. He says, “About a half a dozen early hybrids are coming in new this year. A couple of new drought guards coming in to go along with our lineup that we have of drought guards already, which in a year like this, everybody is looking at some of that new technology that can help save their crop.”

Johnson tells Brownfield they have several test plots around the Midwest. “We’re hooked up with some of the state organizations and their testing plots and stuff like that so, at the end of this season, we should have some really good data on all of the new hybrids that we have coming forward.”

Johnson says there is a lot of focus this year on drought-resistant corn varieties.  He says farmers can also expect more early maturity enlist soybeans and some new Xtend flex options.
