[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Belgian singer and activist, Angèle, is not only the face of this collection but has also written the music. Climate change, feminism and cancer awareness are some of the topics she’s tackled and she is known for her song, Balance ton Quoi, which challenges every day sexism. Her pared back style is reflected in the Eye Campaign collection.
There are seven new Stylo Yeux Waterproof in a muted metallic line-up. I’ve been wearing Eros, a pink-copper tone and love it although it needs a bit of mascara unless you like a stark eye look (which I do, just not on me).
The Stylos are waterproof and they withstood the heat of Sunday very nicely. In texture, they’re the silky, weightless glide that you’d hope for that give a glimmer of colour. I love these especially if you have hooded lids which makes wearing shadow more difficult. A line of colour means that even if you don’t show a full lid, applied as close to the lash line as you possibly can you will get a flash of colour. Waterproof liners make the best job of this because they tend not to transfer upwards. These are laid down almost immediately and then don’t move even if you swipe a finger across the lines but if you have hooded lids, line and keep your eye closed for a moment or two to let it ‘set’.
Shades from bottom to top are: Khaki Metal, Bleu Metal, Eros, Vert Emmeraude, and Prune Intense (not metallic). I like a red eye liner – Prune Intense is a burgundy shade that is vampy and dramatic – apply loads of mascara and some black khol on the inner rims and you are ready!
Actually, not part of this collection, but I have been wearing this Stylo Ombre et Contour Liner Kohl in Electric Brown a lot this summer – you can wear it as a shadow as well if you want to but I’ve been using it as a kohl and it gives you that kind of electric eye look that’s nigh on impossible to achieve. It has enough pigment that it shows up well on the inner rims and I find that because it’s not a skinny pencil it deposits a bit on the lower lash line as well so you have this perfect electric look without even trying. The palette I have (of two) here is Douceur et Serenete in a plum toned quad. Every shade in this is taken down a notch so that there is more of a ‘fog’ effect than full on pigment.
As you’d expect, it’s an instant colour lay down … one stroke of your brush and you are done. I like the way it’s been given a shadowy aspect because I usually associate any combination of purples as bright and intense. These colours take away the brightness and leave a toned down result. I remember Eros, it was released as a limited edition, I think 2018. I bought a back-up. Glad it is back again

Thank you for this review Jane, most helpful. I do like a green / khaki eye makeup. They have got a little bit lost of late amidst all the warm tones / sunset / nude colour combos which sadly don’t me many favours. The emerald eye pencil has been purchased (khaki was out of stock but I am sure I can manage a Chanel counter visit soon) and I am looking forward to giving it a wear in this heat. The purple Douceur palette is giving me some cooler weather / nostalgic 80s vibes! I am also watching closely to see if Chanel will bring back their /any coloured mascaras. I hope all is well with you at BBB towers and that Honey is coping in the heat. Best wishes xxx

Bless her, that sounds just the job. My chonky cat Jasp has been shedding c 1 kitten’s worth of fur each day! Luckily he loves a good brush. Yes khaki is most flattering and pairs up with gold / black / even a touch of pink or coral for lots of versatility. Hopefully there’s more greeny gorgeousness to come as we move towards autumn. Plenty chilled drinks incl the odd white wine being had to keep cool here, thank you. Chin chin x

Honestly, every time I think ‘I have enough make up, don’t need any more’ …..then I see these and think, except for those eyeliners . Maybe the palette too?

Is it just me or has premium make up gone up in price? Can’t believe the eyeshadow quads are £48 … last time I bought one it was £40! I justified it then, thinking £10 per shadow. I appreciate that they are now £12 each but they’re small and there’s always one that rarely gets used. Are you going to review the new Bobbi Brown brand, Jane? I’ve never been less excited for a release as Jones Road. It’s Bobbi Brown in all but name and I’ve become bored with that brand too.
Actually, I’ve become bored with all of the Lauder brands they all smell the same and I can just imagine that the production line is geared up with a few colours for Estee, some for Bobbi Brown, some for the other brands in the stable.
Maybe the pandemic has switched my mindset – I have oodles of stuff that will never be used, so much so that I’m ashamed of myself.
Everything gets taken over and becomes just a mix of the parent company.
I want good quality skincare, an SPF that doesn’t make my face feel as if the pores are full of oil and I don’t look as if I’m heading for the next world. If someone can explain to me how you reapply SPF on a fully made-up face I’d dearly love to know.

Thanks so much for your words Lesley – really appreciated. I think the pandemic has changed things – we had more time not wearing make up for a start, and more time at home to notice the clutter. I hardly wore any make up during lockdown but the one thing I did was teach myself to wear bright lipstick without feeling self conscious because I used it almost every day in my hour out to walk Honey. I like Jones Road – what I’ve seen of it – its simplified and pared back but has the original Bobbi touch so anyone who feels that BB now is not the brand they fell in love with any more, JR brings that origin right back. But I hear you on the sameness. Also, don’t be hard on yourself with the product you have …. I know I have too much but I also know I LOVED buying them and they brought me a lot of pleasure at the time – things change and it’s okay. In my mum’s day you used to use your lipstick (one of two – one for day and one for evening) down to the absolute dregs and it’s just not like that any more. There is so much more available than there ever was and treating yourself to things you like is good as long as you’re not breaking your budget. I have felt for a long time that we’d wake up and realise we probably have enough and think it will make purchases more considered. If you have a clear SPF spray that’s the best way (Garnier Ambre Solaire Over Makeup Super UV Protection Mist SPF50 might be worth a go). Good luck 🙂

I stopped wearing “proper” makeup over lockdown and now, I just can’t seem to wear it. Either I’ve lost the knack of putting it on or it just looks weird to me. I agree with the sunscreen comment – but it’s made easier now by not wearing any proper makeup. I wear a Eucerin 50+ Sunscreen – and wipe my face with a biodegradable wipe before reapplying.
I gave away a huge pile of makeup to some very grateful teens who would never have bought the brands. They used them up completely and lovingly. It was quite satisfying to see!
Great idea – I give loads of my stuff away (obviously because I have more than is humanly possible to use) and people never say no, are never not happy to have it and its often to friends of my children (Max went back to Sweden with a huge bag to distribute!). I’m just tackling the sunscreen issue today actually because it’s quite a common question.
