Pennsylvania man dies in Ocean City drowning

A Pennsylvania man drowned in Ocean City Friday night. 

Police were called to assist the fire department with four swimmers in distress around 8:39 p.m. at 19th Street and the beach.

One of the swimmers, a 33-year-old male from Pennsylvania, “became distressed in current,” according to the Ocean City Police Department.

Bystanders were pulling him from the water when police and EMS arrived. He was taken to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional where he was pronounced deceased.

Waves crash into the shoreline Friday, July 7, 2021, in Ocean City, Maryland after Tropical Storm Elsa pushed through the area.

Police are not releasing the name of the victim at this time.
