Gamblers hoping to hit it big at the new Hollywood Casino York will be able to try their hand next month.

Hollywood Casino will be opening at noon on Aug. 12, Penn National Gaming said on Monday.

The date is pending final customary regulatory approvals, the company said.

“The countdown to our grand opening begins today,” Ruben Warren, vice president and general manager for Hollywood Casino York, said in a news release. “We’re very excited to soon welcome patrons to this beautiful new property, where they’ll be able to experience premier gaming, dining and entertainment.”

The Hollywood Casino, in Springettsbury Township, has set its opening date in August.

The $120 million establishment in Springettsbury Township is located in the former Sears store at the York Galleria.

Before the grand opening, Penn National will host two invitation-only test days, the release states. Gaming proceeds will go to charitable organizations in the area, including York County Veterans Outreach, York County Food Bank, Mr. Sandy’s Veterans Helping Hand and local VFWs and American Legion posts.

“We are thrilled to be supporting the work of these incredible organizations in York County,” Warren said. “Penn National is committed to being actively engaged in the community and partnering with worthwhile groups to assist those in need.”

Warren had shared details about the casino last month when he spoke to the York County Economic Alliance's Economics Club.

The 80,000-square-foot casino will have 500 slots and 24 table games. It will feature the first Barstool Sportsbook in the state. As for food and drinks, "Diner & Drinks," a casual dining restaurant and bar, will have about 125 seats. "Classic Grill" will offer some grab-and-go food, such as burgers and other finger foods.

Penn National is still hiring employees for the new casino. Anyone interested in applying for a position can visit the Hollywood Casino York Career center, which is on the lower level of the York Galleria, or apply online at www.pngaming.com/careers
