Milk futures, cash dairy mixed

Milk futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange continued to trade in mixed territory as cash markets began to move more positive.

June Class III milk up a penny at $17.34. July up 12 cents at $16.60. August down four cents at $16.79. September 15 cents lower at $17.60. October through December contracts 12 to 13 cents lower.

Dry whey up $0.0050 at $0.5950.

Blocks up $0.0150 at $1.49. Two sales were made at that price.

Barrels up $0.02 at $1.49. One trade was made at that price.

Butter down $0.0175 at $1.73. Six sales were made from $1.72 to $1.7350.

Nonfat dry milk unchanged at $1.2575. One trade was made at that price.

For July, the USDA has set the base Class I milk price at $17.42 per hundredweight, down $0.87 from June, with the base Class I skim price at $10.95, down $0.87.
