PNM awards grants to Otero County nonprofits
The PNM Resources Foundation awarded three Otero County nonprofit organizations $125,000 in grant funding.
The three Otero County nonprofits were Artrageous Artreach, First Robotics New Mexico and the Flickinger Center of the Performing Arts. Each received a grant between $10,000 and $15,000.
“All of the recipients of our summer 2021 grant are focused on improving community safety, a mission that is even more urgent as pandemic recovery continues,” Laurie Roach, PNM Resources Foundation director said in a news release.
“We are acutely aware that many people are still experiencing great difficulty, especially worrisome is the increasing number of youth who are struggling every day. It is our honor to provide support to these worthy nonprofits that are providing a lifeline to so many in need.”
Artrageous Artreach is a children's educational program which uses the arts as tools for bettermen, said Lauri Francis of Artrageous Artreach.
"The organization will use its PNM grant for a five-day summer camp in Summer 2022 that will feature workshops and ways that students "can learn the value of arts in your life," Francis said.
The Flickinger Center of the Performing Arts said it would use the funds for its outdoor music venue located in the alley behind Patron's Hall on New York Avenue.
"We're super-excited that we received (the grant)," Flickinger Center Executive Director Lorrie Black said.
