Station Spotlight: KJAN

Brownfield is proud to partner with KJAN AM 1220 FM 101.1, Atlantic, Iowa. For more than 2 decades, KJAN has carried Brownfield programming. You can check out their website and follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

How long has your station been on the air?

Since 1950.

How long have you been a Brownfield affiliate?

20 years.

What Brownfield programs do you air?

Almost all of them!!

Tell us about the services your station provides.

We serve southwest Iowans with local news every day 24/7, farm, weather, sports and local information. We have 2 local interview programs to keep people up to date on local happenings. We have partnered with area school districts to help start a program with held from the Area Education Agency to set up online video channels and help teach students play-by-play and video editing.

Tell us about your community involvement:

Our staff have been members of local civic groups and board members of the local chamber of commerce. We work with other area chambers of commerce to help promote events and quality of life. We make a number of annual donations to help local projects.

Tell us about any involvement you have, or coverage you provide, to any agriculture related groups:

We support local 4-H and FFA organizations by promoting their activities and members. We cover 8 area county fairs each summer with live interviews and video/archived video of livestock shows. We helped to create and still support the “Speak Out For Agriculture” program in Cass and Adair counties that has helped students learn about communication careers in agriculture for the last 25 years.

Radio Iowa, Iowa Hawkeyes.

We think the quality of life is one of the best attributes in our rural areas and we are proud to live and support it everyday!
