Farmer says crops are looking good despite variable conditions, some replanting

Northwest central Ohio farmer Patty Mann says the planting season is finally wrapped up after variable weather conditions.

“The planting season got a little bit stretched out,” she says. “We started the last few days of April and we just finished up on Monday because we had a few outlying areas that remained wet for quite awhile.”

She says they did have to replant some corn and soybeans.

“We did a little bit of replant for some soybeans and the corn we planted on April 28 had to be replanted,” she says. “It seems like, for our area, if you got crops planted in the middle of April or the middle of May, they are looking really good right now. For the most part our crops are looking good and with some timely rains we’ll be off to the races.”

Mann spoke to Brownfield at the Celebration of Ohio Corn and Wheat on Wednesday in Delaware, Ohio. The event was hosted by Ohio Corn and Wheat Growers Association.
