Brownfield Ag Weather Today

Sponsored by Pivot Bio PROVEN

A strong cold front crossed the northern Plains on Thursday, sparking a round of strong to locally severe thunderstorms, featuring damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes. This outbreak followed Tuesday’s severe weather, which produced hail up to 4 inches in diameter in eastern Montana. For Friday, the threat of strong thunderstorms will shift into the upper Midwest and gradually diminish. Rainfall accompanying the storms could total an inch or more in a few spots, mainly in the Dakotas. Meanwhile, locally heavy showers will linger from the mid-South into the mid-Atlantic, with additional rainfall totaling 1 to 3 inches in some locations. In contrast, dry weather will prevail during the next 5 days in the middle Mississippi Valley and from California to the southern half of the Plains. Building heat will accompany the Southwestern dryness, with temperatures rising to 110° or higher during the weekend and early next week in many desert locations. Hot, dry weather will also return across the northern Plains, starting this weekend.
