There's more to read in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Four weeks ago, we were pleased to announce our expansion of the Sunday Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, with more local news and features added to every section of the newspaper.

Highlights this Sunday include a deep look at a rare brain surgery on a young bonobo at the Milwaukee County Zoo. Our zoo has 19 bonobos, the largest population in North America. Among our closest relatives, bonobos share 98.7% of their genetic material with humans, making them exceptionally valuable to scientists. Researchers have teased out the significance of the 1.2% of DNA found in humans, but not in our closest primate relatives; that small proportion accounts for more than 35 million differences between humans and other species.

This week's profile on a person making a difference in our community focuses on Darryl Morin, who believes the American Dream begins with recognizing human dignity. Two seminal events 16 years ago crystallized that commitment to improving the lives and defending the dignity of Latinos. “I like to think that when my day comes, people will not think of what I said, but what I did,” Morin said.

In Business, Baird market strategist Michael Antonelli sees the market raising wages, solid household savings and a strong recovery: "We completely stopped the economy. We are spinning it back up. Of course, there was going to be some inflation. But you have to remember that in 2020 inflation ran 1%. So, if it runs 3% in 2021, the two-year average is 2%. We really need to focus on the long run and not the short run."

In Life, our travel story describes 16 national park sites you can reach from here on a tank of gas. Our Family feature offers 20 ways to enjoy the Fourth of July with kids, who can't be vaccinated yet and remain safest with group activities outdoors. This Sunday's home story shows how a Bayside couple keep their 5.5-acre lot full of greenery, allowing nature to thrive. Their lakefront land, with a pond, labeled plants and paths to Lake Michigan, will be part of the Garden Conservancy's Open Days program.

Our Sports Extra stories include a look at Kris Middleton's best playoff performances as the Bucks fight through adversity to try and win the NBA Eastern Conference title. Also, Brewers play-by-play announcer Brian Anderson talks about his return to the national airwaves for TNT's airing of "The Match," a star-packed golf event featuring none other than Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Our subscribers make this expanded coverage possible.
