If you are ready to see some live music this year, you’re in luck. With mask mandates lifting and many things returning to normal, live shows are making a comeback.

The Appell Center for the Performing Arts has announced its first shows in the 2021-2022 Strand Theatre season.

“This initial list focuses on what our audiences love best – and need the most – live music and comedy”, said Todd Fogdall, president and CEO of the Appell Center.

Fogdall said that the center has offered limited-capacity shows during the past year, and its last live show was on April 30.

In a news release from the center, the following shows were listed in this year’s line-up:

The Lone Bellow in their first Strand Theatre show on Aug. 7

A solo performance by Ben Folds on Aug. 27

The Godfather of British Blues, John Mayall on Sept. 2

NPR Humorist and best-selling author, David Sedaris on Oct. 1

Brian Regan on Sept. 25

Rescheduled performances by Gordon Lightfoot (Aug. 12) and Postmodern Jukebox (Oct. 15)

The Psychedelic Furs with Royston Langdon on Nov. 5.

Paula Poundstone on Dec. 3.

The Appell Center for the Performing Arts pairs two old theaters - the Strand and Capitol. It has announced its first shows in the 2021-2022 Strand Theatre season.

“We look forward enthusiastically … to providing a memorable and healthy experience. Our facilities are sanitized before all performances, deep cleaning practices continue and our HVAC systems feature MERV 15 filtration and maximum fresh air circulation,” Fogdall said.

He added that the events will be sold at full capacity, “i.e. no social distancing.”

“Our current masking protocols required guests to wear masks when they enter the theater and when they are moving around the space. Once they are seated, and if they are vaccinated, they are allowed to remove their mask,” he said. “This is an honor system. We are not checking vaccination cards.”

Should a performance need to be rescheduled, all tickets will automatically transfer to the new date, according to the release.

A pre-sale for Appell Center Members begins June 4 at 10 a.m. All tickets go on sale to the public on Tuesday, June 8, at 10 a.m. Tickets and Appell Center memberships can be purchased online at AppellCenter.org or by calling the Box Office at 717-846-1111. You can also visit the Appell Center for the Performing Arts Box Office at 50 N. George St. in York.

Additional shows will be announced soon.
