Large hail, 60 mph winds possible during severe thunderstorms forecast for central Pa.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for much of the region Wednesday.

A storm was passed through the region around 4:30 p.m. with heavy rain and thunder.

The area includes Adams, Franklin, Lebanon and York counties.

Dauphin, Cumberland and Lancaster counties, and beyond, also are included.

"Scattered severe thunderstorms with localized damaging wind gusts of 60 mph or greater and large hail exceeding 1 inch in diameter are possible this afternoon and early this evening ahead of a potent cold front," according to the weather service.

Forecasters say much of the Northeast, including central Pennsylvania, is under the threat of severe thunderstorms Wednesday.

After a couple of cooler days, the area is expected to reach 92 degrees Wednesday, according to AccuWeather.com. Storms could come late this afternoon or evening.

A sunny and warm day is expected Thursday, with highs of 84 degrees.

You can expect rain on Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Up to 1.5 inches are forecast with a high of 67 degrees.
