South Dakota crops mostly ahead

Corn and soybean planting are way ahead in South Dakota. As of Sunday, 86% of corn had been planted with nearly 20% emerged. Soybeans planted was 66% with six percent emerged.

Spring wheat and oat planting are nearly complete. Winter wheat condition is 75% fair to good.

Sorghum planting is behind at 10% complete with one-percent of sunflowers planted, in line with last year and the average.

Now, 54% of pasture and ranges are in poor to very poor shape. One-third are in fair condition and just 14% are excellent.
