Missouri River levee repairs progressing

The Army Corps of Engineers says progress continues to be made on Missouri River levee repairs.  Mike Dulin is the emergency management specialist with the Kansas City District.

“We are nearing that 80% complete mark with all levee rehab projects. So, 80% overall completion. That’s up about 10% from the last time we talked.”

Four breaches remain and all are under construction.

“That’s R-500 in Doniphan County, Kansas. Holt-10 and Holt-9 in northwest Missouri – Holt County, Missouri. And, then Rushville Sugar Lake in Buchanan and Platte County Missouri.”

In late April, the large federal levee system breach downstream of Brunswick in Chariton (shair-it-ton) County was repaired which Dulin calls a big accomplishment and relief.
