Magnolia Branches Three Ways

Hey card makers, welcome back.  I have been so excited playing with the new Embossing Folders from Simon Says Stamp, today I have the Magnolia Branches Three Ways for you.

All of Simons new EMBOSSING FOLDERS are super deep and really nicely etched, providing beautiful deep images.

three hand made greeting cards created with the Simon Says Stamp Magnolia Branches Embossing Folder

Magnolia Branches Three Ways – Card #1

a blue handmade greeting card embossed with the Simon Says Stamp Magnolia

Let’s start with the super easy card.  Place a piece of Simon’s Audrey Blue cardstock into the embossing folder and run it through your die cutting machine.

Tip – lightly spritz both sides of the card stock before embossing.  This loosens up the fibers in the cardstock making it more pliable and lessoning the chance of it tearing.

Next  lightly run a white pigment ink pad across the surface several times to highlight the raised portions of the design.

Once the ink is dry, mount it to a top folding A2 white card base. (you can speed up this step with a heat tool).

For the sentiment

Die cut the “Hello Crafty Friend” die in white for the foreground and vellum for the shadow background.  This way, you can still see the color and the design through the vellum

Finally, once the sentiment is in place, add a sprinkle of the pretty April Showers Sequins from Simon Says Stamp.

Card #2 Magnolia Branches Three Ways

a hand made and hand painted card using the Magnolia Branches embossing folder from Simon Says Stamp

Card #2 is a tad harder, LOL.  I decided to watercolor it and this takes a bit of practice.

Start by embossing the design onto watercolor paper.

Watercolor the image with Gansai Tambi watercolors.  #34, 51, 55 and 61.  It takes a bit of practice to watercolor a lump surface, but it’s doable with patience.

Let the image dry before attaching it to a piece of Cotton Candy cardstock from Simon Says Stamp

Next, attach it to a A2 sized top folding white card base.

Finally, die cut the “celebrate” word die three times from the Cotton Candy cardstock.  Stack them and then attach them to the card front.

Under that I added a snarky sentiment from the Birthday Send Happiness Sentiment Strips (I made this for a particular friend who would appreciate that, haha)

No embellishments on this card, I figured with the raised watercolor image, it was busy enough!

Magnolia Branches Three Ways – Card #3

a hand made greeting card with a window and flower box and a background embossed with the Magnolia Branches embossing folder from Simon Says Stamp

My third card you have seen before I shared it last week here.  I just wanted to add it to the list as it shows the third way to use the Magnolia Branches embossing folder – as a background or backdrop for other art pieces.

In this case it sits behind art I created with the Simon Says Stamp Window Box Blooms (also from this release).  It adds the perfect amount of background noise without taking over the space.

There you go, three different ways to use this beautiful Magnolia Branches Embossing Folder.  I’m sure I will come up with even more down the road as I don’t think I’m quite finished playing with this beauty yet.

Hola, Sandi, warm vaccinated hugs from San Antonio, Texas. 😀 Girl, your cards are GORGEOUS! We say in Spanish, “te aventaste!” Literal translation is “you threw yourself,” but implies that you out did yourself. Just fabulous! Come visit us in San Antonio. We’re a little chubby, but we’re nice people. 😁😁😁

    1. haha, thank you Marisela, I would love to come and visit you in San Antonio and warm up a little, LOL

Come on down, my friend. We’ve been hitting close to 90*F and sunny. Some cities further south have already hit 100*F plus so if you need warmth, we got warmth. haha haha 😂😂😂 I’ll even show you around. When I was in high school (1988), Ozzy Osbourne visited The Alamo. He was in town for a concert and was given a private tour. He decided to pee on The Alamo IN FRONT OF POLICE and was promptly arrested. He was banned from performing here for 10 years. So, you’re going to have to behave, Sandi. haha haha haha 😂😂😂 I’ m teasing, Sandi! I hope you can visit one day. San Antonio is beautiful, but what can I say? I’m biased. 💜💜💜

  5. I just got the magnolia embossing folder in the mail. I am going to try watercoloring the image. Thanks for the inspiration. Yours turned so lovely.

    1. Hi Sue, thanks for finding me again. Isn’t this embossing folder just beautiful, I’m totally in love with it
