Welcome to Supreme Court Brief. The justices capped a busy Monday by taking three new cases for next fall, including a potential Second Amendment blockbuster. Justice Alito expanded on his unhappiness with the court’s stingy exercise of its original jurisdiction. Justice Barrett participated in a First Amendment challenge despite calls for her recusal because of the petitioner’s financial support for her Senate confirmation. The court recently had its formal portrait taken, bringing all the justices together.
