MO: freezing temperatures might be over for the season

A University of Missouri climatologist says Missouri might be getting over the hump for freezing weather this spring.

“We’ve reached our median day across the state where we would anticipate our last 32-degree temperature,” Patrick Guinan said. “I think, over the next week to 10 days I don’t see any sign of seeing any more temperatures going at or below freezing.”

Guinan said soil temperatures are also coming in around the 50-degree mark across the state.

“They’ve been only running in the middle to upper 40’s across northern Missouri and generally in the lower 50’s across much of the rest of the state,” he said. “You have to go down to far southeastern Missouri to have average soil temperatures in the upper 50’s.”

Guinan said cooler temperature and rain will likely continue through Saturday morning.
