White House working group to address drought

The White House is bringing several agencies together to address the increasing drought in western states. The working group will be led by USDA and the Interior Department to “support farmers, Tribes, and communities impacted by ongoing water shortages.” Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack says drought is a major economic threat to rural areas. Interior Secretary Deb Haaland says water is a sacred resource and the group will deliver a much-needed proactive approach to providing drought assistance” that is long term.
