[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] To my surprise, the most impressive item from the new Hourglass Equilibrium skincare offerings is the Intensive Hydrating Eye Balm. As a general rule, I don’t use specific eye care products but this just looked so sumptuous and tempting, I had to give it a go.

The reason this lipid fuelled balm is so rich in texture is its low water content (it’s silicone heavy by the way) and feels instantly at home around the eye area without feeling sticky or heavy – better yet, it promises results in three days. I think what you’re looking for in any eye cream is something that smooths and plumps and perhaps tackle those almost impossible dark circles. I’ve got dark circles and always have had – even when I have a lovely night’s sleep – and really don’t think it’s possible to make any meaningful inroads into those because the main cause is simply genetic pigmentation. But I could easily attest to the area looking smoother. I’d like a big tub for my whole face actually, were it not for the fact that it’s £92 – imagine how much a big tub would be!

The Cream Cleanser is also lipid rich so feels completely skin compatible from the get-go. In my view, this is good for drier skin types – it won’t strip or leave the complexion feeling dry despite the fact that you need to wash it off. I was hoping, from the name, it wouldn’t need a rinse but it does. It feels quite concentrated but in fact, water is the third listed ingredient. As a luxury cleanser, it’s completely doing its job which it really should at £55.

Again, I’d recommend this for drier skin types – or older skin (although I think this collection is being marketed for ‘first signs’ skin). I come and go on essences – they are a nice extra step that you don’t exactly ‘need’ but if skin is your thing, you’ll enjoy it very much. Essences are more popular in Asian countries than here, that’s for sure, but they exist as a mid step between cleansing and moisturising, much as toners do. Except, essences are more skin softening and help skin to absorb what ever is coming next better. This particular essence is lipid rich and apparently forms a protective layer against pollutants and blue light. You’ll notice a difference but whether it’s enough of a difference for a £64 lay out is individual choice.

So, in summary, beautiful formulas that take you on the luxury journey – if they’re within budget, they’re an absolute treat. You can find the Hourglass Equilibrium Skincare collection HERE, non-affiliate HERE.
