SD corn planting has begun

Corn planting is underway in South Dakota. The USDA says soil moisture is still low with only 41 percent of topsoil rated as adequate. Thirty-one percent of subsoil moisture is adequate. 

One percent of the corn crop has been planted. 

Winter wheat is rated 36 percent good to excellent. 

Spring wheat planting progressed to 46 percent, nine percent ahead of last year. Fifteen percent of the crop has emerged. 

Oats planted reached 41 percent, 10 percent ahead of last year. Thirteen percent of the crop has emerged.
