Michigan FFA Convention LIVE

The Michigan FFA Convention is taking place online this week and the coordinator expects the virtual format to expand its exposure.

Convention director Caitlin Henne tells Brownfield one week after last year’s in-person event COVID restrictions went into effect and efforts have been underway since the fall for this week.

“Our hope is that more members than ever will be able to experience the Michigan FFA State Convention,” she says.

The format might be different, but the content will remain according Henne.

“It’s teaching people a new way to communicate,” she says.  “There have been a lot of things taken away from us but at the same time we’re learning how to live in a different way and communicate in a different way.”

Leadership competitions have also been virtual this year which Henne says took place with judges over Zoom rather than in lecture halls.

“Students have done a really good job adapting I think, and, although there were some connection issues and people had a hard time getting on to meetings, from what I understand things when pretty smoothly,” she explains.

Sessions are available through Facebook Live, Youtube, and on the Michigan FFA website through this Friday.
