New York City and the City’s Two Utilities have completed a Study of how to Decarbonize the Energy System, finding that Policies to Promote Electrification or Low-Carbon Fuels would achieve Deep Emissions Cuts.
The Report, initiated under a Landmark Climate Law that also required Buildings to Reduce their Emissions, appears to be the First such Technical Analysis as a Partnership between a City and its Utility Providers, Con Edison and National Grid.
The Findings, released Wednesday, Align with other Reviews of the issue:
- Greening the Grid.
- Electrification of Transportation with Managed Charging for Vehicles.
- Buildings paired with Deep energy Efficiency Improvements.
New York City Comptroller, Scott M. Stringer, who is a Candidate for Mayor, led a Coalition of Institutional Investors Representing some $1.8 Trillion in combined Assets to Demand the 20 Largest Publicly Traded Electricity Generators in the U.S. Commit to Achieving Net-Zero Carbon Emissions.
