UPMC hosted a vaccine clinic on Wednesday in partnership with the York Revolution and the Spanish American Multicultural Resource Center.

Individuals were able to schedule for the two-shot Moderna vaccine when they arrived at the event, held at PeoplesBank Park in York.

The open-air, tented site offered a combined sign-in, vaccine area and a separate observation area and was walkable from downtown.

Beddia lives and works in downtown York so the location was very accessible, she said.

About a month ago, Tina Nixon, a diversity inclusion contact with UPMC, reached out to community organizers about running a community clinic that would provide easy access from downtown to Spanish-speaking people and those who had difficult access to other vaccination clinics, said Lou Rivera, president and CEO of the multicultural resource center.

The first UPMC vaccination clinic in York was at the Doors of Salvation Church, a predominantly Spanish-speaking church.

The second at the stadium was capable of administering 1,000 doses, according to Janice Dunsavage, vice president of pharmacy at UPMC.

People wait in the observation area of the community vaccine clinic at PeoplesBank Park on Wednesday.

Alison Beddia, who arrived from work downtown and also lives downtown, said that the location was very convenient for her as she received her vaccine late in the morning.

The center at the stadium will open again in four weeks to administer the second dose of the vaccine to those who were vaccinated Wednesday.
