USDA issues public health alert for ground turkey

The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has issued a public health alert for more than 200,000 pounds of raw ground turkey that may be linked to Salmonella Hadar illness in 12 states.  The products were produced by Plainville Brands from Pennsylvania and shipped to retail locations across the country.

A recall was not requested because the products are no longer available for consumers to purchase.

The products were produced from December 18, 2020, through December 29, 2020, and are under the brands Nature’s Promise, Wegman, and Plainville Farms.  They are marked with the establishment number EST. P-244 inside the USDA mark.

FSIS is concerned that some products may be frozen and in consumers’ freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them and they should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
