Big jumps in planting progress for Arkansas crops

Planting is full-speed ahead in Arkansas.  Twenty-four percent of the corn crop is planted, and 7 percent is emerged.  Thirteen percent of rice and 5 percent of soybeans have been planted. 

The winter wheat crop is rated 65 percent good to excellent with 12 percent of the crop headed.  Alfalfa hay is rated 25 percent good and 32 percent of pastures are rated good to excellent.

Topsoil moisture is rated 95 percent adequate to surplus and subsoil moisture is rated 93 percent adequate to surplus.
