Indictment: San Angelo man broke windows at local high school

UPDATE: A San Angelo man has been indicted after Central High School had windows broken, according to court documents released Friday.

An indictment charged Jerry Perez Montelongo, 60, with  criminal mischief between $750 and $30,0000 — destroying school. The charge has been enhanced to a second degree felony, punishable by up to 20 years in jail and a fine not to exceed $10,000.

The charge was enhanced due to his prior convictions for stalking in 2003 and possession of methamphetamine in 1989.

Since the April arrest, Montelongo has been released from Tom Green County Detention Center on bond and a court date has been tentatively scheduled for September, according to online court records.

SAN ANGELO — A San Angelo man was arrested Tuesday after windows were broken at a local high school, according to an arrest affidavit obtained Wednesday.

On Tuesday, April 6, 2021, police responded to a report of windows being broken at Central High School. Officers arrested a man, who they believed threw rocks through the windows, records state.

Jerry Perez Montelongo, 60, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of criminal mischief between $750 and $30,0000 — destroying school. He remained in Tom Green County Detention Center in lieu of a $7,500 bond as of 11 a.m. Wednesday, according to online jail records.

This is a state jail felony punishable by up to 2 years in jail and a fine not to exceed $10,000.
