Grassley says Biden infrastructure plan doesn’t do enough for Rural America

U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley says President Biden’s $2.3 trillion infrastructure plan is lacking in many areas important to rural America.

During his weekly call with ag reporters Tuesday, the Iowa Republican singled out biofuels.

“Unfortunately despite the emphasis on environment, biofuels don’t even appear to be a priority in the massive infrastructure proposal.”

Grassley acknowledged Biden’s plan does address rural infrastructure needs like upgrading roads, bridges, inland waterways, and expanding broadband access.

“But it’s only about one-fourth of the $2.3 trillion program he put forth. I’ll just name one other big item in (the plan). What does the expansion of Medicaid have to do with infrastructure?”

Grassley says if the Democrat majority in the Senate allows for a bipartisan bill, there should be some opportunities to make changes to the infrastructure plan.
