RFA: January ethanol exports hit monthly record

More U.S. ethanol was exported during January 2021 than any other previous January.

The Renewable Fuels Association says exports of 164.6 million gallons were up 48% from December 2020, with India buying 53.2 million gallons, exports to China at 22.7 million, an increase of 81% and more than they purchased in all of 2020, and Brazil’s monthly total more than doubling at 17.5 million gallons.

Purchases by Canada hit an eight-month low, but that nation stayed in the top five destinations for the month, with the Philippines rounding out the top five, with their largest monthly volume since October 2018.

Exports of dried distillers grains with solubles were 916,541 tons, up 9% on the month, mainly to Mexico, South Korea, Indonesia, and Vietnam.

The RFA says there were no ethanol imports recorded during January.

The USDA’s next corn for ethanol use estimate is out Tuesday, March 9th, at Noon Eastern/11 Central.
