I encourage you to pursue Christ with all your heart

Our church’s 6 a.m. Monday men’s Bible study is really hard to wake up for (it’s at 6 a.m. on Monday morning after all!), but is also one of the greatest joys in my life. It’s a wonderful thing to have the support of true friends and Christian brothers, and to have a group of men to be encouraged and challenged by. I hope you have your own group of Christian brothers and sisters that you are able to walk through life with.

Our men’s Bible study recently read and discussed Hebrews 3. I was struck again by verses 13-14: “But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end.”

Sin is deceptive. Temptations are great. And if we stop fighting against sin, we will drift away from the faith (Hebrews 2:1), let go of our grip on the gospel, and we won’t be saved from eternal judgment.

To keep our faith in Jesus intact until the day of our death, we will need to fight to constantly repent of sin, to pursue holiness and to hold on tightly to our faith (of course, ultimately Christ is the one who holds us secure!-Jude 24). And in order to do that, we will need brothers and sisters in Christ to walk alongside us.

Has your faith gotten flabby? Has your walk with Christ gotten lethargic? Are you in danger of drifting away? Are you actively pursuing Christ? If you aren’t in pursuit of Christ, you are drifting away from Him. Maybe you already have drifted away?

Let me encourage you to pursue Christ with all your heart. Make sure you persevere in faith until the very end. And then get around some brothers and sisters in Christ to encourage you in your walk.

If you are looking for a place to connect, we would love to have you join us on Sundays at 10 a,m. at 511 East 7th St. And we would love to help you find a men’s, women’s or youth group where you can connect and belong. If you have more questions, feel free to give Pastor Andy a call at the River Community Church office (605-428-4111).
