Former House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) , in his new book, did not hold back on his feelings about Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas).

According to The Week, the back cover of the former top-ranking Republican lawmaker's new memoir "On the House: A Washington Memoir" has been made public. Based on the text, the book will feature Boehner's take on a number of lawmakers, including Cruz who he referred to as a "reckless asshole."

"There is nothing more dangerous than a reckless a--hole who thinks he is smarter than everyone else," Boehner reportedly says of Cruz in his book.

"The calls came in less and less as his tenure went on," Boehner writes. "That's probably because he got more comfortable in the job. But I also suspect he just got tired of me advising him to shut up."

He also weighed in on Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) describing him as someone who "holds his feelings, thoughts, and emotions in a lockbox.

According to Axios, Boehner also went off-script while recording the audio version of the book. In that original recording, he reportedly said, "Oh, and Ted Cruz, go f**k yourself."

His spokesman David Schnittger also released a statement addressing the speculation surrounding the audiobook.

"I can confirm there were some off-script moments during his recording of the audiobook," Schnittger said. "He pretty much just let it fly, as he did when he was working on the book itself. He's not really interested in being anything other than himself these days. That is kind of the spirit of the entire project."
