USDA sets CSP application deadline for 2021 payments

USDA has set March 26 as the deadline to apply to the Conservation Stewardship Program to receive funding this year. CSP, through USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service, helps farmers, ranchers and forest landowners earn payments for conservation practices while also producing agricultural products.

The program is meant to help increase crop yields, decrease inputs, improve wildlife habitat, and protect against extreme weather. Added benefits for cover crops and crop rotations were also added under the 2018 Farm Bill.

The USDA says interested landowners should contact their local NRCS office to learn more about the program and submit applications.  Applications submitted after the March 26th deadline will be considered for 2022.
