[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] The last Kevyn Aucoin base that I tried was the foundation balm a couple of years ago. This time, the newest base is a skin tint – the Kevyn Aucoin Stripped Nude Skin Tint – that’s feathery light and cooling on the complexion but has more pigment than your average ‘tint’.
I’ve got mixed feelings about it to be honest. It doesn’t contain any SPF so you’d have to add that first, but the texture is so beautiful that I checked the box to see where it is made (France) because it had a Japanese vibe about it. It’s silky and weightless, as described, and infused with hyaluronic acid. I’ve seen some nay-saying regarding hyaluronic recently but I’m definitely still in the camp of preferring to have it in formulations than not.
Kevyn Aucoin Stripped Nude Skin Tint
The advantage of having more pigment (and powder) in what is essentially a skin care base is that it stays around a little longer although I did notice some settling into pores on my nose. I should add as a caveat that I did no skin care prep first to mitigate that effect but it doesn’t happen with lower pigment/powder tints. Kevyn Aucoin Stripped Nude Skin Tint also contains Butterfly Bush Flower Extract (no, I hadn’t heard of it either but you might have heard of its less sexy name, Buddleia!) which helps (to what degree is not clear) with blue light free radicals which is something I am becoming far less sceptical about.
The finish is a natural skin finish so not dewy and not completely matte but it does give a lightly diffused look which I like. It’s not for you if you like a glow finish and SPF but don’t like silicones, and it is for you if you like a higher pigment tint for a natural look and a traceless texture. Maybe – I was disappointed a few months ago when I came across Je Reviens by Worth. A once favourite fragrance that no longer smells anything like it used to.
(Revlon is another I can think of along with Max Factor and Charles of the Ritz. Is the Helena Rubinstein company still going?). We could possibly also include Versace but Donatella took over almost seamlessly after the untimely death of Gianni.
Yes, I think Harrods had some new Helena Rubenstein – I would like Charles of the Ritz back!

Their cream eyeshadow was wonderful. Great payoff and no creasing. Their foundation was excellent too.
I don’t know if The Fragrance Shop ships overseas, but according to one of the reviews for their “Silk Blossom by Jo Malone type,” it is an exact match for Je Reviens pre-reformulation. I don’t know if that’s true or not – I’m on a no-buy right now so I haven’t tried any of “their” fragrances (but I have a list of discontinued perfumes that I’m not risking on eBay and Etsy) – but I always like to pass along something like this if it’s someone’s long lost (long ruined, perhaps?) favorite.
