Long Beach man, woman arrested on suspicion of car theft at Rocky Peak

A man and woman from Long Beach were arrested on suspicion of car theft early Wednesday in Simi Valley.

A Simi Valley police officer used a LoJack receiver to pick up a signal from a reported stolen vehicle near First Street and Easy Street in Simi Valley at 4:16 a.m.

Officers located the vehicle eastbound on Highway 118 at Yosemite Avenue, initiated a traffic stop at the Rocky Peak exit and took the vehicle's two occupants into custody.

The vehicle was stolen earlier Wednesday in the Los Angeles Police Department’s Harbor Area, according to the SVPD.

Ismael Alvarado, 25, and Salina Mendoza, 29, both of Long Beach, were booked into Ventura County Main Jail on unlawful driving or taking of a vehicle and conspiracy to commit a crime, according to jail records.

Alvarado's bail has been set at $20,000.
