Nick Cannon tests positive for COVID-19, Niecy Nash to step in on 'Masked Singer'

"The Masked Singer" host Nick Cannon has tested positive for COVID-19.

The 40-year-old comedian is taking a hiatus from hosting the Fox reality competition while he quarantines and recovers from the coronavirus, Variety first reported Wednesday. Cannon's rep Stephen Elmore confirmed the report to USA TODAY.

Niecy Nash will fill in as host for Cannon during the fifth season of "The Masked Singer," which is set to premiere in March with "more legends, bigger spectacle, crazier surprises," the show teased on Instagram in January. Production is set to begin Thursday.

Cannon is expected to return to his hosting duties later in the season, but "The Masked Singer" should be in good hands until then. Nash previously served as a guest panelist on the show last season, which crowned LeAnn Rimes as champion in December.
