What would possess someone to allegedly store more than $300,000 worth of marijuana in a self-storage unit, renege on paying the storage fees and simply walk away?

The world may never know. But the marijuana never made it to the streets, and the person who allegedly owned it is now facing charges.

According to a Thursday news release from Eastern Adams Regional Police Department, Andreas Garcia-Grajeda, 31, of New Oxford, was arrested Wednesday and later taken to Adams County Prison for processing.

Just before 4 p.m. on Wednesday, police responded to the Hilltop Self Storage, 2650 Carlisle Pike, Oxford Township, for reported drug activity.

Eastern Adams Regional Police inventory more than $300,000 of marijuana, left behind in an Oxford Township storage unit.

Once on scene, police met the complainant who ho said he bought the contents of a storage shed there sight-unseen.

The man said the previous renter of the storage shed, later identified as Garcia-Grajeda, did not pay his storage shed bill, and the contents went up for sale.

The complainant stated he bought the contents Wednesday morning, then went there that afternoon to clean it out. As he was cleaning, he noticed a large plastic toolbox on the floor.

"The complainant stated he removed the lid, and the box was filled with vacuum sealed bags of marijuana that were approximately 12 in wide and 18 in long," the release states.

Looking at Hilltop's records, police identified Garcia-Grajeda as the previous renter.

Now that's a lot of weed: Eastern Adams Regional Police inventory more than $300,000 of marijuana in vacuum-sealed bags, left behind in an Oxford Township storage unit.

Police then had to load the large container onto a pickup truck to get it back to their headquarters to enter it as evidence. The material tested positive for marijuana.

The box contained 63 bags filled with about 18 ounces of marijuana.

"The approximate street value of the drugs confiscated was $315,000," according to the release.

Later that day, police arrested Garcia-Grajeda.
