Broadband and biofuels among Minnesota House Ag Chair’s priorities

The chair of the Minnesota House Agriculture Committee says the coronavirus pandemic has shifted some legislative priorities.

Representative Mike Sundin, a Democrat from Esko, tells Brownfield broadband has moved to the forefront because of distance learning and working from home.

“That’s coming into play at a greater measure right now, and communication with the suppliers and buyers is critical.”

He also points to the biofuels sector that’s been hit hard during the pandemic.

The Minnesota Corn Growers are calling for a statewide E15 standard this session.

“We’ll see where that ends up (and) if it’s going to pique the interest of the rest of the legislature, but it certainly has my interest at this point.”

And Sundin says he’ll make sure E15 gets a fair hearing.
