Warm start to 2021 helps some Minnesota farmers
A warm, dry January had benefits for some farmers in Minnesota.
The USDA says grain movement was widespread, with only a small amount of the 2020 corn crop still standing, and conditions allowed for manure spreading.
Because of the relatively mild temperatures, livestock feed consumption was down with adequate supplies, and bedding needs declined.
Lambing has started and calving season is about to begin.
The USDA’s weekly crop progress and condition reports resume in April.
