Lurgan Township man killed in chainsaw accident on his property

The accidental death of a 74-year-old Shippensburg man Friday happened when he was cutting down trees on his property, the Pennsylvania State Police said.

The tree that Harold Stouffer, of Lurgan Township, was sawing snapped, striking him on the head, according to a police report.

Police identified the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head. The time of the incident was listed as 11 a.m.

Investigators said there were no signs of foul play.
