Upper Bucks man charged with threats to Biden, Wolf said he would 'go out in a blaze of glory' on inauguration day

The man who was arrested in Upper Bucks over the weekend for making threats against President-elect Joe Biden and other officials claimed he would "go out in a blaze of glory," on inauguration day, according to authorities.

On Tuesday, Kris John Kinsey, 61, was arraigned on charges alleging he made threats to Biden, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, their supporters, Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf and Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Kinsey, of Nockamixon, is charged with a felony of prohibited possession of a firearm, as well as misdemeanor offenses of possessing an instrument of crime, making terroristic threats and drug charges.

State police said Kinsey was arrested in a wooded area in the 700 block of Sunday Road in Durham on Friday morning. Kinsey was wanted out of Elyria, Ohio, on charges alleging he made threats to government officials on his Facebook page, according to authorities. Elyria is a city about 30 miles southwest of Cleveland.

He was arraigned on his Ohio charges and sent to Bucks County Prison in lieu of 10% of $4.6 million bail. 

Pennsylvania State Police filed their own charges with the same allegations Monday. Kinsey was arraigned by video by District Judge Gary Gambardella, who imposed the same bail on the Pennsylvania charges.

Gambardella said during Kinsey's arraignment that the bail was set that high because of the serious nature of the charges. 

Kinsey remains in Bucks County Prison in lieu of 10% of $9.2 million bail as of Wednesday morning.

Pennsylvania State Police allege Kinsey posted many messages, images and videos threatening violence and death to Biden, Harris and their supporters.

He claimed Harris had said she would find and hunt supporters of President Donald Trump if she and Biden won the 2020 election, according to court documents. 

Police said Kinsey filmed himself firing a semiautomatic handgun at a Styrofoam plate that said "F— Biden" on it.

He also wrote that those who support Biden asked for this "brutally violent war," and said death to Biden, Harris, Wolf and Pelosi, charging documents allege.

Kinsey said he would go out in a "blaze of glory," Wednesday, which is Biden's inauguration, according to police.

State police searched his campsite in the wooded area he was in and found a semiautomatic handgun and suspected marijuana, charging documents state.

Investigators also determined that the campsite was where he filmed himself shooting the plate, according to authorities. The plate was found with other signage there, police said.

Kinsey, who has a felony conviction out of Texas, is not allowed to have a firearm, according to state police.

Elyria Police Capt. William Pelko, a department public information officer, said the Secret Service had alerted the Elyria Police to Kinsey's posts. 

Kinsey, he said, used to live in the city and had been arrested by the department before.

The captain said the department contacted Pennsylvania State Police when they determined he might be in Pennsylvania. 

He said both Pennsylvania State Police and Elyria Police charged Kinsey with the same offenses. Pelko said prosecutors will decide whether Pennsylvania or Ohio authorities handle the case. 

Should Kinsey post bail, he is not allowed to have access to a phone or internet because of the nature of his charges, Judge Gambardella said.

Kinsey's preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for Feb. 1. He did not have an attorney listed for him Tuesday.
