USDA releases outline for future research

The USDA has released its agriculture innovation research strategy summary highlighting areas like crop production, genome design and automation.

The report summarizes stakeholder input and sets goals for research done by the USDA.

USDA Deputy Under Secretary Scott Hutchins says he believes the information in the report will “create enthusiasm and spark imagination” to help solve challenges facing agriculture. He says the challenge is feeding a growing population in a sustainable way.

Stakeholders in the report include the American Farm Bureau Federation, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association National Corn Growers Association and National Soybean Board.
