Grab your crock pot, dump in a bunch of chocolate and nuts, and whip up a batch of one of the easiest treats around -- super tasty Crock Pot Candy!  In this version of the classic slow cooker treat, 3 types of chocolate and 3 types of nuts combine to create one fabulously flavored sweet treat.

There truly isn't a much easier treat to make than classic Crock Pot Candy.  Simply grab your crock pot, dump in a bunch of chocolate and nuts, and let the crock pot do the work!

With the crock pot set on LOW, after about an hour or so the chocolate will melt and beautifully encase the nuts to create this tasty treat.  All it takes as far as effort goes is a couple of stirs and spreading the warm chocolate/nut mixture out to set.  Super easy, right?

But not only is Crock Pot Candy super easy to make, it's also a tasty chocolatey treat that seems to be loved by all.  Put these two things together, and that makes it a perfect treat for Christmas time nibbling and gifting from the kitchen.

And while there are many many different variations of crock pot candy, we do think this version is the best and easiest crock pot candy recipe around.

Simply grab your crock pot, dump in a bunch of chocolate and nuts, and let the crock pot do the work!

What makes this crock pot candy recipe the best & easiest crock pot candy around?

Two things set this crock pot candy recipe apart from most others.

  1. A combination of 3 types of nuts
  2. Spreading (not scooping) the warm chocolate/nut mixture

It's pretty commonplace for a crock pot candy recipe to include some form of three types of chocolate -- semi-sweet, milk, and white chocolate -- as this recipe does.

But what's unique about this recipe is it also includes three types of nuts -- peanuts, almonds, and pecans.  Most crock pot candies are made solely with peanuts, but we think the 3-nut combination results in much better flavor.

Also, most crock pot candy recipes we've seen have you scoop out the warm chocolate/nut mixture into individual candy pieces.  While I've certainly been-there-done-that with the scooping, it is a bit of a tedious process.

I much prefer the dump-and-spread method, as we do in this crock pot candy version.  Simply dump the warm chocolate/nut mixture out onto a parchment-lined (or wax paper lined) baking sheet and use an offset spatula or rubber spatula to spread it into an even layer.  So much easier than scooping!

Once the sheet of candy is set, simply break it up into smaller individual pieces.

If you don't care about having perfectly-scooped finished candies, this dump-and-spread method is a great alternative.  If you do want perfectly-scooped finished candies? -- No problem, just scoop the mixture instead.

Crock Pot Candy Ingredients

There are many different variations of crock pot candy.  In this version, we use a combination of three types of chocolate chips and three types of nuts.  We absolutely love the flavor this mixture of ingredients creates.

For the chocolate, you'll need:
  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Milk chocolate chips
  • White chocolate morsels

For nuts, you'll need:
  • Dry roasted peanuts
  • Sliced almonds
  • Chopped pecans

We do highly recommend using sliced almonds, rather than whole.  Whole almonds are a little unwieldy and difficult to bite into in this candy.

How to Make Crock Pot Candy

So just how easy is it to make crock pot candy? -- SUPER easy.

Start by dumping the ingredients into a crock pot.

Put the peanuts in first, covering the bottom of the crock pot.  That way, the peanuts act as a bit of heat-shield for the chocolate, keeping it from scorching on the bottom as it melts.

Pour the semi-sweet, milk, and white chocolate chips in on top of the peanuts.  Combine the three types of chocolate chips together a bit so they mix as they melt, but don't stir them in with the peanuts.  You want to keep that heat-shield layer of peanuts in place.

Then place the sliced almonds and chopped pecans on top.  Again, don't stir everything together. -- Leave the ingredients in layers.

Cook the mixture on LOW for 1 hour.  After an hour, the chocolate will be melty.  Remove the crock pot lid and stir everything together.

Replace the lid and continue to cook everything on LOW until the chocolate is completely melted, about 30 more minutes. Then give everything a final stir to ensure all the nuts are coated in chocolate.

Cover a large cookie sheet with parchment or wax paper.  Spoon the warm chocolate/nut mixture onto the cookie sheet, and use an offset spatula or rubber spatula to spread the mixture out to an even sheet about 1/4- to 1/2-inch thick.

Allow to cool until the chocolate is fully set.  If you'd like to speed along the setting process, place the sheet of candy in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.

Once set, break the candy into 1-inch to 2-inch pieces.  You can use a butter knife or sharp knife to do this, or just use your hands like I usually do.

The crock pot candy pieces look extra nice with sprinkles on top, if you'd like.

If adding sprinkles, add them immediately after the chocolate mixture is spread out on the cookie sheet so they'll stick to the still-warm chocolate.

We used red, white, & green Christmas non-pareils sprinkles in the photo below.

So if you're looking for a tasty chocolatey treat to make for Christmas nibbling or gifting, give this Crock Pot Candy recipe a try.  It's truly one of the easiest candies to make.

Grab that crock pot, dump in the chocolate and nuts, stir the mixture a couple of times, and you're good to go.  And with its three types of chocolate and three types of nuts, this version's flavor just can't be beat.
