China biggest destination for corn, sorghum, soybeans
The USDA says sorghum and soybean export inspections for the week ending November 26th were more than what’s needed to meet projections for the current marketing year. The 2020/21 marketing year got underway June 1st for wheat and September 1st for beans, corn, and sorghum.
Wheat came out at 502,788 tons, up 139,336 from the week ending November 19th and 167,884 higher than the week ending November 28th, 2019. The main destinations were the Philippines and Mexico. Almost halfway through the 2020/21 marketing year, wheat inspections are 12,903,823 tons, compared to 12,689,152 in 2019/20.
Corn was reported at 890,033 tons, 57,151 above the previous week and 450,400 larger than a year ago. The top destinations were China and Mexico. Nearing the end of the first quarter of the marketing year, corn inspections are 10,140,580 tons, compared to 6,052,029 this time last year.
Soybeans were pegged at 2,036,484 tons, 197,146 less than the week before, but 459,781 more than last year. The leading destinations were China and Thailand. So far, this marketing year, soybean inspections are 26,679,446 tons, compared to 15,971,911 a year ago.
Sorghum totaled 245,847 tons, an increase of 124,751 on the week and 112,980 on the year. China was the biggest single destination, followed by Djibouti. 2020/21 sorghum inspections are 1,341,916 tons, compared to 585,811 in 2019/20.
