Springettsbury Township shooting sends 1 to hospital

Springettsbury Township Police are investigating a shooting that sent one person to the hospital Tuesday.

Police investigate a vehicle involved in a shooting after it stopped at North Hills Road and East Market Street in Springettsbury Township.

Police responded to a report of shots fired on North Hills Road near East Market Street and Interstate 83, York County 911 confirmed.

Springettsbury Police Lt. Brian Wilbur said they believe the incident started on North Hills Road near Route 30 just after 11 a.m., but that they found the car and victim stopped at the intersection with East Market Street.

The condition of the victim was not available. Tuesday afternoon, there was no known cause for the shooting, or a suspect, although an incident in York Haven could be related.

Newberry Township Police Chief Steve Lutz said his department is assisting Springettsbury after an incident in York Haven that was called in at 11:36 a.m. 

"I'm not sure if there's a connection or not a connection," Lutz said.

Roads in the area had been closed, but later reopened.

No further details were available.
