A former Simi Valley High School lacrosse coach accused of sex acts with a 14-year-old student was charged Friday with 54 more crimes involving 27 additional alleged victims.

Bijan Nickroo, 33, pleaded not guilty to the new charges, which included multiple counts of luring and possession or control of child pornography, according to Ventura County Superior Court records.

Nickroo was initially arrested in December after a 14-year-old boy told his parents about his alleged encounter with the man. The parents then told Simi Valley police officers, who initiated the investigation. They discovered that Nickroo was reportedly using fake social media profiles to solicit pornographic selfie photos from students, many of whom were thought to be Simi Valley High students, Cmdr. Steve Shorts previously told The Star.

At the time, Nickroo was charged with two sex offenses as well as an additional charge for arranging a meeting place for the purpose of engaging in the sex act, authorities said. However, in the months following his arrest, authorities searched through Nickroo’s computer and found evidence of an additional 27 alleged victims, all of whom were underage boys, said Senior Deputy District Attorney Lauren Malan.

Nickroo’s attorney Kelly Swanston, of the Public Defender’s Office, declined to comment on the recent filing.

After entering the not-guilty plea in court Friday Nickroo, who was out on bail, was taken into jail custody due to the new offenses, Malan said. He remained there Monday afternoon and his bail was set at $500,000.

In 2012, Nickroo was employed by the Simi Valley Unified School District as a campus supervisor with responsibilities that included making sure students weren’t leaving campus without permission and ensuring strangers weren’t on campus. He served as the high school’s head lacrosse coach and an assistant football coach.

Upon his arrest, Nickroo was released from those positions and district officials said he would never be allowed to set foot on campus again.
