ACE is engaging new administration on RFS, clean fuel policy

American Coalition for Ethanol CEO Brian Jennings says ACE is working to engage presumed President-Elect Joe Biden’s transition team about RFS-related issues.

“The 2021 Renewable Volume Obligation in case that doesn’t get taken care of under the Trump EPA, and making sure some of the promises that Candidate Biden made about fulfilling the RFS and putting an end to refinery waivers is indeed policy once he takes over as president,” he says.

Biden has said he will focus on mitigating climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Jennings says ACE is looking forward to working with the new administration on clean fuel policy.

“Mitigating climate change is going to be a priority of his and I think the close division in Congress thankfully means extreme measures like the Green New Deal won’t see the light of day,” he says. “But that doesn’t mean that the Biden administration and the new Congress won’t try to take steps to reduce greenhouse gases— I think they will. We need to be prepared in rural America, especially ethanol producers, to position ourselves as part of the solution to those measures so they can be formulated in a way that helps support additional demand for low carbon fuels like ethanol.”

Brownfield interviewed Jennings during the NAFB Trade Talk on Thursday.
