MN Tar Sands Oil Pipeline Permits

The State of Minnesota just Granted some of the Final Permits for the Line 3 Tar Sands Oil Pipeline, one of the Three Largest Tar Sands Expansion Projects on the Continent.

Enbridge Energy wants to Start Construction within Weeks, despite the Risk Out-of-State Workers pose during the COVID-19 Pandemic and the Multiple Pending Lawsuits against the Project from Tribal Nations and Grassroots Groups.

I Oppose this Dangerous Expansion of Oil Pipelines, and the Changes it would bring to the Minnesota Economy.

If you also agree, Please Call Minnesota, Attorney General, Keith Ellison, today and ask him to Advocate for a Stay against Construction of this Pipeline. Attorney General Keith Ellison: 651-296-3353.

On the Phone you can say something like:

“Hi, I’m [NAME], I’m calling from [PLACE], and I’m calling because I am extremely concerned about the possibility of construction on the Line 3 pipeline. The pipeline is still facing enormous legal challenges, including the one in which your office represents the Minnesota Department of Commerce. I’m calling to urge you to work with the DOC to advocate for a stay against construction. Your environmental justice track record is strong, and I’m counting on you to stand with the people and stand up to Enbridge. Please do everything you can to stop construction on Line 3. Thank you.”

The Minnesota Governor and his State Agencies turned their Backs on Indigenous People and Climate Action by Issuing these Permits, siding Irrevocably with the Fossil Fuel Industry and Escalating against Water Protectors.

If Built, Line 3 would Cross more than 200 Bodies of Water, including the Mississippi River and Wild Rice Beds Sacred to the Anishinaabe People that should be Protected under Treaties. The Pipeline would also have the Climate Impact of 50 New Coal Plants, causing more than $287 Billion in Climate Damages to our Communities around the World.

We need to make it Clear we will Not allow Pipeline Construction to Start when it Exposes Communities along the Route to COVID and Undermines Critical Lawsuits against the Pipeline.

We can’t Afford to Addict more State Economies to Fossil Fuels that need to be on their WEay Out, and Sacred Places the 200 Bodies of Water that this Pipeline Endangers are Irreplaceable.

We Need to Oppose this Pipeline at every Opportunity.

Just find out that Michigan Governor, Gretchen Whitmer, has recently moved to Shut Down the Line 5 Pipeline.
