Land O’Lakes official expects in-home consumption pattern to continue in 2021

The senior VP of U.S. dairy foods for Land O’Lakes does not expect a return to normal consumer behavior anytime soon.

Heather Anfang says the COVID pandemic has disrupted the way people shop for, prepare, and eat food.

“I think we are going to be in this in-home consumption pattern longer than we thought. And so as we move into 2021, I think that continues probably further into the year than we thought.”

But she tells Brownfield the breakthrough of a vaccine would definitely change the outlook.

“So I think this uncertainty continues certainly into the first part of 2021. I think that in-home demand will still be there, and so retail products will continue to have opportunities and will grow.”

Anfang says butter demand has increased significantly this year because people are not only cooking at home, but doing a lot of baking.
