To all of our Mac users out there, we know you’ve been excited about Apple’s newest macOS 11.0.1 Big Sur, and so have we. Our excitement around the Mac release is heightened by the fact that we are offering Day 0 support for the new OS within your Citrix sessions to ensure you have a seamless experience with the Citrix Workspace app 2010 for Mac as you upgrade.

Our long relationship with Apple has enabled us to optimize for their latest releases in real time. Starting with the Workspace app 2009 for Mac release, we were immediately testing every beta of Big Sur that was released. This allowed us to offer Day 0 support for the official release of Big Sur.

In addition to significant user experience enhancements included with macOS Big Sur, Apple has also made changes behind the scenes. To deliver the best Citrix experience, we have redesigned our USB framework to ensure we use Apple’s native system extensions and no longer need kernel-level access. This improves security and reliability and modernizes the generic USB redirection solution on the Workspace app on macOS. You can continue to use USB devices inside Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops sessions with the same experience you would have natively. Read more about USB redirection.

Citrix Workspace app 2008 was the last release to support macOS 10.13 and 10.14 (High Sierra and Mojave). Our latest release, Citrix Workspace app 2010, supports macOS 10.15 and 11.0.1 (Catalina and Big Sur). Additionally, Citrix Workspace app for Mac now supports Apple silicon devices (M1 chip) using the Rosetta 2 emulator. For more information about Rosetta, see the Apple support article.
