Midwest Dairy CEO hopes an up an down 2020 leads to an even better 2021

The CEO of Midwest Dairy describes 2020 as a year of ups and downs, and says dairy was no exception.

Molly Pelzer tells Brownfield when the pandemic first hit, there were so many unknowns.

“We know there was a disruption in getting milk from farm to the table, and we were able to make some quick action. We’d like to think that the Dairy Checkoff helped with that. then we definitely saw a return to dairy when we started eating at home and baking at home.”

Going into 2021, she says dairy has an opportunity to maintain a surge in demand.

“Because now that we have consumers back and have seen a 17 percent increase in retail sales, outperforming all other categories at retail, we need to remind consumers to stay with dairy.”

Pelzer says dairy offers great value, fantastic taste, and wellness, which are going to continue to play out as the pandemic hopefully winds down early in 2021.
